Guruvayur Temple in the city of Guruvayur in Thrissur district of Kerala is also  known as the "Bhooloka Vaikuntham" or the holy abode of Lord Vishnu on earth, the preserver of the Universe.



Lord Guruvayurappan is one of the most worshipped deities in Kerala and people from all over India come  here to get a "darshan" of the ever powerful ever mighty God they love.

Guruvayur temple has prescribed  some strict entry rules for it's devotees and pilgrims.



Know Guruvayur Temple Entry Rules
  • Time of entry: 3 am- 12.30 noon  / 4.30 pm-9.15 pm.
  • Only Hindus are allowed to visit the temple and it's premises.
  • Men must wear 'mundu' (white dhoti) to enter the temple. However they can cover their chest with a 'Veshti' or 'Angavastra'.
  • Shirts and pants are strictly not permitted for men.
  • Boys can wear trousers but shirt is not permitted.
  • Girls and women must wear saree or long skirts to enter the temple.
  • Short dresses and western outfit (including jeans)   is strictly prohibited.
  • Salwar Kameez and Churidar for women have been accepted as appropriate dresses for entry by Guruvayur devaswom.
  • All forms of footwear are strictly prohibited in the nada(    pathway leading to temple), temple premises or the Sreekovil (Sanctum Sanctorum).

Covid 19 Protocol 
  • Darshan and marriages cannot be held inside the premises of the temple until further guidelines from the government of Kerala.
  • Devotees of less than 10 years of age are strictly prohibited inside the temple premises.
  • Distribution of "Prasadam" is temporarily suspended till further instructions from the state government.
  • Devotees must strictly follow Covid-19 protocol as prescribed by Guruvayur devaswom/ local and the central governments.
