1. Visit Lakkidi view point in Wayanad

One of the best places to witness arrival of rains in south India  is Lakkidi view point.

The dark clouds coming from the Kozhikode valley( Arabian sea) hit the mountains of Lakkidi and downpour is imminent.

Nowhere else can you witness this magic of monsoon as much as in Lakkidi.

It is one of the wettest and chilliest places in South India.

2. Visit Lakkidi town in Wayanad

When it doesn't rain here, it is misty .

The thick blankets of mist can bring zero visibility even during afternoon and the mist soon gives way to rain.
Depending on the moisture in the clouds, the clouds can become rain or mist.

After a torrential downpour it is back to being misty again.

The alternate shift of rain and mist makes this place very exotic and mysterious.

3.Visit KTC viewpoint in Lakkidi in Wayanad for  picturesque views

Lakkidi viewpoint is indeed a great place to watch the valley down below but the place to go is the KTC viewpoint.
Very few people know about it and reach there .
It is a great viewpoint much higher than Lakkidi and the view from there makes the even cars parked in Lakkidi appear as toy cars.
Call Ali driver at 949-628-4378 to take you there as it is a bumpy uphill  ride and not for the easy going!

4. Visit a natural lake in Lakkidi in Wayanad

The Pookode lake at a distance of 3 kms from Lakkidi is a natural one formed from the streams and rivulets from the mountains around.
The cool climes and the undisturbed flora and fauna around the lake gives one  a feel of what tropical rainforests are all about.

Some of the trees around the lake are reportedly more than one hundred and fifty years old.
Go around the lake for a walk during the rains! You will enjoy it!

5. Visit the  Hair Pin in Lakkidi in Wayanad

One of the shortest hairpins I know, that takes you upto 2100 feet (700 metres) above sea level is  the Thamarassery ghat.

It is also known as Lakkidi hair pin.
It is really worth a ride up and down to Adivaram (plains)  if you are coming from Mysore-Bangalore direction.

Stop by the bends for some cool crisp air and treat your lungs well!

Alert: Keep a packet of salt if leeches find your blood tasty!
