Monsoon Alert !- June to September
Let's get it straight! The first place the monsoon hits in the country is Kerala and it really pours from June to September. During monsoons, most of the hill stations like Munnar and Wayanad receive very heavy rainfall.

Wayanad receives an average  rainfall between 600-650 cms between June and November whereas Munnar region in Idukki district also receives an average of 600 cms. Travelling can be difficult in hills and plains alike,

The plains too receive a good amount of rainfall and the years of 2018 and 2019 received record rainfall leading to flooding. It is estimated that Kerala will receive heavier rainfall in the coming years as well!

If you love monsoons, then the best time to visit Kerala, especially the backwaters like Aleppey and Kumarakom, is the monsoons. The entire backwaters become a vast stretch of "Waterworld" and it is a sight which is unique to just Kerala.

Many Honeymooners have revealed  that the best time to visit Kerala is monsoons. Monsoons make Kerala a  wide green carpet with abundant water bodies, which is a treat to eyes of the city dwellers and foreigners.

Best Time To Visit Kerala

The Verdict: As a native of Kerala and avid traveller , my  personal suggestion to everyone about the best time to visit Kerala would be between December and February. The rivers would be still be full, the waterfalls would be still abundant and the heat moderate .

But if you still insist to be a rain lover, then definitely I suggest that make a visit  to Kerala during monsoons and remain close to cities and the mainland. Visit hill stations only during the  dry seasons as mentioned above.
