Guruvayur Temple follows the timings of it's opening and it's Poojas very strictly.

The rituals and customs followed in the temple are tantric in nature and have been originated from Sri Adi Sankaracharya.

Chennas Namboodiripads have been bestowed the designation of tantris of the famous temple from times immemorial.

Guruvayur Temple Timings 

Opening :  3.am- Nirmalyam - upto 3.20 am 

3.20 - 3.30 am :  Thailabhishekham, Vakacharthu, Shankhaabhisheham

3.30 - 4.15 am : Alankaram and Malar Nivedyam 

4.15- 4.30 am  :  Usha Nivedyam

4.30- 6.15 am  : Ethirettu and Usha Puja

7.15- 9.00 am  : Seeveli-Pal abhishekham-Navaka Abhishekham- Pantheeradinivedyam- Puja

Temple closes at  1.30 pm
Re-opening time  4.30 pm 

Guruvayur Temple Timings 

4.30- 5.00 pm  : Seeveli 

6.00-6.30 pm   : Deeparadhana

7.30-7.45 pm   : Nivedyam

7.45-8.15 pm   : Athazha puja

8.45-9.00 pm   : Athazha Seeveli 

9.00-9.15 pm   : Thripuga and Olavayana

Seekovil (Sanctum sanctorum) closes at 9.15 pm

Timings mentioned above are approximate and may vary during Udayasthamana puja or on special days.

Senior citizens timings for Darshan are as follows:

5.30 am- 8.00 am in the Morning
4.30 pm- 6.00 pm in the Evening

Important tip: Senior citizens and devotees can have a peaceful and crowd free darshan if they reach the temple at 4.30 am. Normally queue free darshan is possible .

Covid Protocol
  • Darshan and weddings cannot be held in the temple premises until further instructions from the Kerala state government.
  • As per the Covid-19 guidelines, devotees younger than 10 years of age  are not allowed inside the temple. 
  • Prasadam distribution is temporarily suspended due to the existing Covid -19 protocol.
